DÉJÀ VU
The Déjà Vu is a pleasant bar in the baltic hanseatic city of Luebeck, located a stones throw from its historic and beautiful streets, and nestled nearby the leafy and famed 'Artist's Corner', an inspiration for many artists from this city and beyond over the centuries. It is located at the end of the recently refurbished 'Obertrave', a pedestrianised zone which in the summer is littered with cosy, sunset lit street cafés where tourists and locals alike spend summer evenings basking at the side of the Trave river, all against the backdrop of Luebeck's famed Holsten Gate.
The bar itself offers a pleasant experience the year round. You can sit outside in the summer to enjoy an ice speciality or a beer, or come in at the winter during the famed Christmas Market which now extends along the entire length of the Obertrave.
Inside the pub you can enjoy a friendly, and equally local and internatational atmosphere. Historically the pub was also the site of the famed 'Croco', where many Luebeckers used to chance at the weekends into the early hours of the morning. That pub was the birthplace of the famed 'Blue Saurer' schnapps, now popular over all of northern Germany. That culture has continued somewhat today, and the pub has now become a favoured haunt after hours, especially for those involved in the restaurant and hotelier sector, and students from the nearby University of Music. It is also a favoured haunt for many international visitors.
The pub prides itself on being one of the only local outlets for draught Staropramen (both dark and light), as well as Jever and Franziskaner Weissbeer, and all served at a more than fair price. Visitors can enjoy the ghosts of Prague, partaking in a Staropramen and a Becherowka, in a pub eerily reminiscent of the haunts of the Bohemian capital. As well as a comprehensive selection of spirits, snacks and small meals can also be enjoyed...and particularly recommendable is the Cheese, Leek and Mince soup.
